Professional Info
I earned a master’s degree in Professional Clinical Counseling from La Salle University which included both coursework and over 700 hours of supervised clinical work.
In Pennsylvania, Licensed Associate Professional Counselors (LAPC) are required to obtain 3,000 hours of clinical work while under supervision after graduate school. Supervision entails meeting with a qualified supervisor regularly to discuss cases and learn more ways to refine clinical skills. While I am currently still working towards these hours, I have been providing therapy for over 2 years since graduating in January 2024.
I have also completed various trainings on topics such as anxiety, OCD, suicide prevention, trauma, and couples therapy. I am continuously finding ways to expand my knowledge base to better assist my clients with whatever they bring to session which often involves seeking out books, trainings, or other resources both proactively and in response to specific sessions or clients.
The Personal Side
I live in Philadelphia with my husband and two dogs (dogs pictured here for karma). While I’m not a Philly native, I’ve been living here since 2017. I enjoy spending time in different parts of the city trying new restaurants, going for hikes in Wissahickon Park, or immersing myself in the energy of the crowd cheering on the Phillies or Eagles. Like all Philadelphians, I have my take on which place has the best cheesesteaks (it’s Angelo’s, by the way).
When I’m not working, I also enjoy reading, gardening, or doing puzzles. My husband and I often have multiple tv shows in progress, one serious and one lighthearted to keep the balance. As a therapist, I limit the amount of personal information I volunteer because session time is your time, but I also understand the benefit of showing that I’m a real person with a real life, so I’m happy to answer basic personal questions or share certain aspects of my life or experience if it’s helpful or deepens our rapport.
Why work with me?
Every licensed therapist has completed the necessary school work and training, and there are so many talented and compassionate therapists out there. It matters whether or not you click with your therapist. I always encourage people, even my own clients, to seek out a therapist they mesh well with even if it’s not me.
Prior to being a therapist, I spent several years in the research, training, and education side of the industry. Through this experience, I learned the importance of using research backed interventions that reduce symptoms directly. But my clinical education, and my own experience in therapy, taught me that sometimes emotional support and validation are just as effective in improving overall wellness. I try to blend these two concepts in my practice everyday.
I approach sessions with kindness, humor, and a general down to earth attitude. I talk to you like any other person I meet out in the world. I may not be the most soft spoken therapist you’ve ever met, but I’m gentle when I need to be and direct when I need to be. I find that by showing up as my most authentic self, I’m able to do my best work as a therapist.
